The Palazzo

The timeless charm of Prince Borghese's Florentine residence.

Created from several Renaissance houses, the Palazzo was unified and rebuilt by the Salviati brothers in 1635 to a design by Gherardo Silvani. In the 19th century, having become the property of Prince Camillo Borghese, it was given its imposing neoclassical façade by Gaetano Baccani and was inaugurated with the celebrated Carnival ball of 31 January 1822.

Neoclassical elegance

A hidden treasure right in the centre of Florence.

The artistic heart of the Palazzo is the Hall of Mirrors, with frescoed vaults up to 13 metres high, together with the Monumental Gallery: spaces richly decorated with frescoes, stuccowork, bas-reliefs, niches, statues and columns.

An architectural gem that bears witness to the cultural and historical wealth of Florence, perfect for events that also wish to celebrate the magnificence of their setting.

Mystery and charm

Palazzo Borghese, between history and legend.

Prince Camillo Borghese, husband of Pauline Bonaparte, renovated the Palazzo for the wedding of Grand Duke Ferdinand III and Princess Maria Ferdinanda of Saxony: the young architect Gaetano Baccani rebuilt it in just six months.

The rooms of the piano nobile still retain their period furniture and are available for meetings and events of every kind.

The rooms

From the most intimate salon to the Monumental Gallery.

The monumental rooms, versatile and full of charm, come with their original furniture. We recommend exclusive use of the Palazzo, but we can also host several events at the same time by renting the rooms individually.

Historical notes

From the Salviati to the Borghese, and on to the Casino di Firenze.

Originally owned by the Salviati, the Renaissance palazzo on what was once Via del Palagio, today Via Ghibellina, passed from Anna Maria Salviati to her son Camillo Borghese, who had it completely renovated in 19th-century taste.

The piano nobile later became home, on the initiative of Prince Poniatowski and with the approval of Grand Duke Leopold II, to the Società del Casino di Firenze: for over 150 years the Circolo Borghese hosted the parties and entertainments of Florentine high society. Since 2022 a new Club has been active in the Palazzo.
